The NHL Players Association has named Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard the Player of the Week for December 8-14, 2023.
Despite early season troubles with his defensive play, Bouchard has been dynamic on the offensive side of the ice this season. His POTW honours come off the back of an absolutely monster week in which he played four games. Here are his stats from December 8-14:
Date | Opp. | G | A | P | PPP | SOG | HIT | BLK |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Dec. 8 | MIN | 2 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 1 |
Dec. 10 | NJD | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
Dec. 12 | CHI | 0 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 2 |
Dec. 14 | TBL | 0 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 2 | 2 |
Week | All | 3 | 5 | 8 | 4 | 10 | 4 | 7 |
With eight points in four games, including three goals, Bouchard is riding a 13-game point streak in which he’s put up five goals and 20 points.
This streak is the third highest point streak in NHL history among active skaters. Bouchard trails only Shayne Gostisbehere who had a 15-game streak in 2016, and Erik Karlsson who had a 14-game streak last season.
Bouchard has been a huge reason why the Oilers have managed to climb their way back into the playoff picture, and will be a key cog in their offensive machine going forward.
Congratulations, Evan!
