Coming back to Rogers Place, the Edmonton Oilers were looking for their first lead of the series and had a great opportunity to do so after splitting the first two games versus the Vancouver Canucks. However, the game was a classic case of one team getting goalied and the other getting goals.
The Oilers posted 45 shots and scored just thrice against Arturs Silovs, with their third goal coming late in the third period with the extra attacker. On the other end of the ice, Stuart Skinner was shaky and ceded four goals against in the first 40 minutes, which in isolation is already not great, but he made just 11 saves in a light workload with poor results.
The net result was that the Canucks stole Game 3 as the Oilers were left frustrated.
