What We Know About the Upcoming NHL 24 From EA

The hotly anticipated new NHL 24 video game from EA is officially set to arrive on October 26, 2023. It’s the 33rd instalment in the world’s best series of Ice Hockey-themed video games, and you will soon be able to play from several market-leading consoles, such as the Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation 4 and 5.

Here is everything we know so far about this upcoming new game, from the different game modes, features, gameplay improvements, price, and more.

Are there any decent hockey games worth playing while I’m waiting for NHL 24 to arrive?

While you’re waiting for this new game to arrive or for the new NHL season to start on October 10, don’t forget to check out the previous NHL games from EA or several feature-rich, Ice Hockey-themed online slots at trusted Canadian sites like comeon.com.

You have the original Break Away online slot by Microgaming (acquired by Games Global in May 2022) and two follow-ups to this popular Ico Hockey game – Break Away Deluxe and Break Away Lucky Wilds.

These two games are also brought to you by Games Global, but Stormcraft Studios made them. To play these slots, you must be at least 21.

What we know so far about EA’s new NHL 24 video game

Over the past few months, many exciting new details about the NHL 24 video game have filtered through from reputable sources. One thing that’s certain is that it will be released across multiple platforms on Friday, October 26, 2023, and based on pre-order prices, you can expect to pay the following price:

Standard Edition:

  • Xbox Series S/X – $/£69.99 (or equivalent currency value)
  • PlayStation 5 – $/£69.99
  • Xbox One – $/£59.00
  • PlayStation 4 – $/£59.00

X-Factor Edition:

If you can afford it, you can spend a little extra to gain early access to the game. It’s known as the X-Factor Edition and will set you back a cool $/£99.00 for all consoles mentioned above.

Forking out for the more expensive X-Factor edition gets you three days to play the game before it goes out for general release. That’s when you pre-order it.

Early birds can also look forward to receiving over four thousand NHL points, just to get you started off on the right track, and Dual Entitlement for any of the consoles mentioned above (PlayStations and Xboxes).

It also gets you an exclusive Cale Makar (defenceman for the Colorado Avalanche) player item, a WOC Battle Pass XP Modifier x5, and the ability to choose your own HUT Power-Up Icon.

The favourite game modes will still be available in NHL 24, and there are currently no details about any new game modes that might be introduced in the latest instalment.

What else do we know about NHL 24?

One of the new features that players can take advantage of what is already being referred to as a vision passing system. It basically uses the distance between two players and the velocity of each pass, which should mean you have improved passing accuracy.

Regarding which player(s) might appear on the front cover of the game, many believe it will feature one or more of the following star NHL players:

  • Jack Hughes (C) of the New Jersey Devils
  • Linus Ullmark (G) of the Boston Bruins
  • Connor McDavid (C) of the Edmonton Oilers

However, this could be totally wrong, and the cover may not feature any of these star players who all had an impressive 2022/23 NHL season. Although no official statements have yet been made, it’s also likely that the game will feature another women’s hockey star.

Final note

If you want to be one of the first players to see what this new game looks like in action before it’s released, two of the best websites you can turn to are YouTube and Twitch. These two sites both have several new videos of NHL24 being played by people who have managed to get early access to the game.
