Zach Hyman was on a quest to score his 50th goal of the year and he had a prime opportunity to do it against his former team. However, the Edmonton Oilers fell short against the Toronto Maple Leafs and Hyman fell short of the milestone.

- The Oilers didn’t score any goals in the first two periods while the Leafs built a five-goal lead. Despite Edmonton scoring three goals in the third period, it was too big a deficit to claw back from.
- As mentioned, Hyman got his 49th of the year and it was Edmonton’s first goal of the game.
- Connor McDavid picked up an assist on all three Oilers goals.
All situations Corsi
- The Oilers had a long stretch in the first period without many shot attempts at all. This was after already being down 1–0 before going down by two.
- Edmonton’s third period push was too late. Once Edmonton got their first two goals, the Leafs retreated to playing defence as Edmonton spent the rest of the game in the offensive zone.
- Edmonton’s defence was not good. The bulk of Toronto’s shots came from in close and four of their five goals came right in front of the net.
- In the offensive zone, the Oilers were not as efficient as their counterparts. Edmonton had a good number of high-danger chances but they were also taking shots from all over the ice.
5v5 Corsi
- Last game versus the Buffalo Sabres, the Oilers scored a whopping seven 5v5 goals. In this game, they gave up four of them and didn’t score any. A tale of two games, to say the least.
- The Oilers were not able to generate many high-danger chances at 5v5 at all. The team barely had any slot chances and it was a big reason why they were held scoreless over the first 40 minutes.
- On the other end of the ice, Edmonton’s defence was not very good at preventing the Leafs from generating high-danger chances.
