In the Edmonton Oilers’ latest game versus the Boston Bruins, captain Connor McDavid hit a significant individual streak by assisting on Warren Foegele‘s goal. The primary assist was McDavid’s 63rd assist and team-leading 84th point of the season, but perhaps more impressively, it extended his home point streak to 20 games.
McDavid went on to add another assist in the Oilers’ comeback attempt to reach 64 assists and 85 points.
Connor McDavid’s home point streak
The streak started for McDavid after he returned from his October injury. He picked up an assist at the Heritage Classic but was then held scoreless at home versus the Dallas Stars on November 2. Since then, every game at Rogers Place has featured at least one pointโthough often moreโfrom McDavid. Further, that game versus Dallas was the only game this season McDavid’s been without a point at home; he scored in all three games at home prior, where he tallied one goal and four assists.
As a part of this 20-game streak, McDavid’s best performance came in a career-best game with his six-assist game versus the Detroit Red Wings. Outside of that phenomenal showing, he’s also posted five points twice, with both games featuring a goal and four assists from the captain. On the other end of the spectrum, eight games saw him scoring just one point. However, he’s tallied a whopping 48 points in the 20-game span.

Adding context to McDavid’s home point streak
Right now, Nathan MacKinnon has the spotlight for home point streaks, as he’s yet to go pointless at home this year. From the start of the season up until now, in 27 games in the Ball Arena, MacKinnon has posted 56 points for a scoring pace of two points per game. McDavid still found a way to outdo MacKinnon though, as his home point streak sees him scoring at 2.40 points per game in front of the Oilers crowd. Absolute insanity.
McDavid’s home point streak is currently not his best streak inside Rogers Place. Last year, he closed out the season with a 21-game point streak. It’s somewhat hard to believe given his 153-point season, but last year’s streak only saw him post 39 points for a much “weaker” 1.86 points per gameโas if 1.86 points per game can be considered weak in any world.
If McDavid scores again when the Oilers welcome the Minnesota Wild on Friday, then he’ll tie his career-best home point streak, all while scoring at an even more impressive clip. If that happens, he’ll have a chance to set a career-best streak versus the Calgary Flames on Saturday.
