They did exactly that and reached the 30-win mark on the season in just 47 games.

  • The Oilers had the edge in shots—and would have had a bigger edge if not for all their misses.

  • Evander Kane scored his eighth career hat trick.

All situations Corsi

  • The Oilers separated themselves from Anaheim in terms of shots attempts to start the second period and it stayed that way the rest of the game.
  • Edmonton had the better share of high-danger shots.
  • The Oilers’ defence was also good at preventing Anaheim from getting too many chances as well.

5v5 Corsi

  • The Ducks went a long stretch in the game without much 5v5 offence at all, from the midpoint of the first period all the way to the end of the second period.
  • The Oiler’s getting two 5v5 goals in the second was massive for the team as they were both game-tying goals.
  • The amount of high-danger shots the Oilers got at 5v5 seems too good to be true but that’s just how effective the Oilers have been all season long.
  • Again, the Ducks weren’t able to muster much offence at all, and Calvin Pickard was solid against most shots faced.
