Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers have recalled seven Bakersfield Condors for the second round of the playoffs

One Edmonton hockey team is seeing playoff success thus far in the Edmonton Oilers, while their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, have unfortunately been eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs with a 0–2 first-round loss to the Ontario Reign.

The Condors finished sixth in the Pacific Division in the 2023–24 regular season, meaning they were slated to face the second seed of the division in a best-of-three first-round series. Bakersfield unfortunately lost the first game 5–1 and the second game 3–1, seeing their playoff run finishing before things really got underway.

With a good number of NHL-eligible prospects and players on the Condors roster, the Oilers made recalls in advance of their Round 2 matchup versus the Vancouver Canucks.

Condors recalled to the Oilers

Lane Pederson, Adam Erne, Raphael Lavoie, Cam Dineen, Ben Gleason, Philip Kemp, and Olivier Rodrigue have all been recalled from the Condors.

Here are the AHL regular season stats for the recalled skaters. Goaltender Olivier Rodrigue posted a 2.73 GAA and 0.916 SV% to go with this 19–12–5 record.

Rewarding prospects for a good AHL season by giving them reps with the NHL team during the playoffs gives them more familiarity with the Oilers’ system, shows trust in their development, and creates more readily available depth options in case of injury.
