Facing the lowly San Jose Sharks, the Edmonton Oilers looked to continue their climb up the Pacific Division standings. Jack Campbell started in goal for Edmonton, opposite a Sharks goaltender who doesn’t deserve to have his name mentioned.
The Sharks have been a stingy team this year. Even without the services of Timo Meier, they have some legitimate weapons, and are led by the likely Norris Trophy winner, Erik Karlsson.
Karlsson scored two goals en route to a 5-4 Sharks lead in the third period, but the Oilers fought back hard. Mattias Ekholm scored the game tying goal with under five minutes to go in regulation, and Darnell Nurse finished things off in the extra frame.
Charts from the big win are below.
