The Edmonton Oilers are now 5–1–1 on the season. The Bakersfield Condors have not found as much success as they remain just at .500. Every Oilers prospect, except for the ones in the ECHL have officially started their regular seasons now. OHL prospect, and Windsor Spitfires defender, Andrew Robinson, is off to hot start.
Let’s take a look at this past week within the Edmonton Oilers system.
Welcome to the TOR Edmonton Oilers prospect update. Each week, we’ll take a dive into how the Oilers’ prospects have done in their respective leagues to go along with a feature one standout prospect in Edmonton’s system. We have defined a prospect as a skater who has played fewer than 65 NHL games, and is born 2002 or earlier.
Andrew Robinson, Defence, Windsor Spitfires, OHL
A bit about Robinson:
The 2008-born defender is an Oakville born product that was raised in the Vaughan Kings System. With the Kings the Canadian defender heard his name called in the third round, 58th, overall in the 2024 OHL Draft, by the Spitfires. From there the rearguard then jumped to the OJHL with the Georgetown Raiders for the full 2024–25 season, before eventually getting called up to the Windsor Spitfires full time in the 2025–26 season.
After a successful rookie campaign in the OHL, Robinson was initially ranked the 205th overall best prospect in the 2026 NHL draft. The Oilers bucked this projection, as the organization selected him much earlier at #133, in the fifth round of the draft instead.
The defender was more of a depth defender last season with Windsor, but has stepped into a central role with the club this season.
Robinson’s situation this season
Where Robinson was a depth-defender for the Spitfires last season, his responsibilities and role have greatly increased this season around. Last season at this time Robinson was averaging third pairing minutes to the tune of 16:31 TOI, with limited power play or penalty killing roles.
This season? It’s an entirely different story as Robinson is undoubtedly a top-pairing defender for Windsor, averaging 26:43 of time on ice in 27 shifts. The prospect has an extensive power play role (2:34 TOI), and even a secondary penalty killing role (1:08 TOI).
The Canadian defender is also one of the most trusted defenders on his team as he starts 54% of all shifts in the defensive zone.
Robinson’s season by the numbers
Not only is the fifth-round selection getting an abundance of opportunity, but he’s also making the most of it.
Defensively he is a gritty machine engaging in 15 puck battles per game, while winning 53%. Additionally Robinson blocks 2.2 shots per game, has 14 takeaways to just six turnovers per game, all while taking a beating to the tune of 3.7 hits against a game. Most importantly Robinson saves 0.83 scoring chances against a game by himself.
His defensive awareness, poise, and puck management are also all improving. When a defender averages a staggering 149 puck touches per game, one would hope that puck skills are elements of growth. With the puck Robinson has started 5.8 breakouts per game, secured six zone entries in that same span.
The Oilers prospect dishes out 45 passes a game and has an impressive 92% accuracy to go along with that. Of these passes, the OHL product can regularly identify key passing lanes on his way to creating high danger scoring chances, with 1.17 passes to the slot.
Robinson also enjoys a 0.24 goals expected rate, despite a lowly 29% shot accuracy and a 8% conversion rate on his two scoring chances a game. Most impressive of all is the sheer fact that Robinson’s Corsi for rating sits at 62% on the 2026–27 campaign.
Statistically, Robinson is impressing by every metric of the CHL game this season, and looks poised to grow more, while even emerging as one of the early candidates for OHL defenceman of the year.
Edmonton Oilers prospect updates

- The Fort Wayne Komets start their season October 17 against Toledo.
- Goaltending prospect Eemil Vinni was assigned to the Fort Wayne Komets earlier this week.
Europe
- Prospect goaltender Daniel Salonen continues to impress in the Liiga. The 20-year old Finn’s momentum continues to grow. On the 9th Salonen secured a 19 save, 5–1 win, against Ilves, only to be followed up by a 38 save effort in a 3–2 SOL to JYP on the 14th.
- Roby Jarventie’s streaky play continues this week. The Finnish forward appeared in two games, a 2–1 OTL to SC Bern on the 10th, and a 5–0 win against EHC Kloten on the 16th, where Jarventie found the scoresheet with two goals, and two assists. This marks the first time this season an Oilers prospect has had a four-point outting.
NCAA
- 2024 seventh-round defender Bauer Berry started his season with a pair of games against Air Force Academy on the 9th and 10th.
- University of Michigan continues to chug along in their season, with defender Asher Barnett appearing in a pair of games against the University of Alaska-Anchorage on the 9th and 10th, and a game against the University of Denver on the 16th. Fellow Oilers prospect, Aidan Park was held out of the lineup in all three games.
- Western Michigan defender, Zack Sharp, has begun his season with a pair of wins against Ferris State University on the 8th and 9th. These efforts were followed up by a 6–1 win against Notre Dame on the 16th. Sharp opened his scoring for the season with a assist in his first game of the season against Ferris State University on the 8th. Fellow Oilers prospect, Tommy Lafreniere is also off to a hot start to his NCAA career with four points across that same span.
- Notre Dame, and Oilers prospect Paul Fischer opened their season on the 8th and 9th against Niagara University. Fischer found the scoresheet in his first game of the season. Notre Dame’s third game of the season was the previously mentioned 6–1 loss to Western Michigan on the 16th. The two-way defender is projected to take a big step forward in all three zones of play as he enters his senior season.
- Oilers 2026 second rounder and USHL product, Rudolfs Berzkalns, has started to find his groove, with an additional three games this past week. This included a pair of games against the Chicago Steel on the 9th and 10th. Berzkalns also played a game against the Youngstown Phantoms where he scored his first goal and amassed his first 15 penalty minutes of the campaign.
- Forward Dalyn Wakely is starting his sophmore season off strong, with an assist in their opener against Clarkson on the 9th, and two multi point outings (one against St. Lawrence University on the 10th, and another against ASU on the 16th).
OHL
- The pair of Windsor Spitfire prospects are on a roll, as they appeared in four games this past week. Forward Caden Harvey had a pair of multi-point games, and defender Andrew Robinson also netted two assists in that span. Both late round prospects are over a point per game on the season.
WHL
- 2025 fourth rounder, David Lewandowski, currently enjoys the highest PPG rate of all Oilers prospects at 2.00. The powerforward appeared in three games this past week, amassing six points, and an extremely noticeable compete level in all three games. The left winger is poised to be a central element of Saskatoons offence this season.
