The week ahead for the Edmonton Oilers: the start of a five-game road trip

The Edmonton Oilers 2025โ€“26 regular season, is officially in full swing. Starting off week #1, Edmonton and Calgary hit the ice and had the first Battle of Alberta (BOA) take place. In this first game, Edmonton unfortunately came away with a loss, thanks to a final score of 4โ€“3 in OT.

The Oilers received their goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Andrew Mangiapane, and Leon Draisaitl. Nugent-Hopkins started the season strong with three points, Mangiapane scored his first goal as an Oiler and Draisaitl picked up two points, while also scoring his 400th career goal with the Oilers. Edmonton out shot Calgary 35โ€“22. Nugent-Hopkins was the first star and Draisaitl was the third star of the game.

At home in Rogers Place again, for their second game of the week, saw the Oilers matchup against their division rival Vancouver Canucks. With the Canucks bound to be one of their biggest league rivals of the season, this is going to be an entertaining series. Edmonton was able to earn their first win of the season with a final score of 3โ€“1.

The Oilers received their goals from some familiar faces, with one player scoring his first NHL goal. Noah Philp got the scoring started with his first NHL goal, Andrew Mangiapane scored the game winning goal and Leon Draisaitl finished it off with an empty net goal. The Oilers dominated in the shot category, outshooting the Canucks 37โ€“15. Philp was the first star and Mangiapane was the third star of the game.

Edmonton Oilers schedule for the week of October 13 to October 19

Next up on the Edmonton Oilers schedule, will see them hit the road and play four games in a six day span. These will be the first four games of their five-game road trip. The Oilers will be matching up against the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and the Detroit Red Wings.

Edmonton Oilers at New York Rangers, Tuesday  October 14

The Oilers first game of week two and first of a five-game road trip, will see them go head-to-head against the New York Rangers. Last season, the Oilers finished with two wins and swept the series, thanks to one win at home and one win on the road. In those two games against the Rangers, the Oilers outscored them 9โ€“3.

Edmonton Oilers at New York Islanders, Thursday October 16

The Oilers second game of regular season week two, will see them match up against the other New York team, in the New York Islanders. Last season, the Oilers finished with two wins and swept the series, thanks to one win at home and one win on the road. In those games against the Islanders, the Oilers outscored them 6โ€“4.

Edmonton Oilers at New Jersey Devils, Saturday October 18

The Oilers third game of week two, will see them match up against the final team with new in their name, the New Jersey Devils. Last season, the Oilers finished with two losses and lost the season series, thanks to one loss at home and one loss on the road. In those games against the Devils, the Oilers were outscored 6โ€“2.

Edmonton Oilers at Detroit Red Wings, Sunday October 19

The Oilers fourth and final game of week two, will see them head east to match up against the Detroit Red Wings. Last season, the Oilers finished with three out of four points, thanks to one shootout loss at home and one win on the road. In those games against the Red Wings, both teams managed to score five goals a piece.
