Well, folks, it looks like the leak was correct. The Edmonton Oilers unveiled their new third jersey that they will be using through the 2025–26 season, and it looks to be the exact design that was leaked a couple of weeks ago.
This is a unique addition to the Oilers’ jersey roster as it is the first true wordmark jersey that they’ve used. It features a number of nods to the area and team history. A blue collar as a nod to the blue collar industries prominent in Alberta. On the front, the ‘S’ in Oilers is styled to show an oil drop in the centre to keep some part of the team’s unchanged logo featured on the jersey. And the shoulder patch shouting out the oil and gas industry with a very familiar design that we can’t quite put our fingers on.
Overall, there is a distinctly vintage look to it. The off-white base and font that Oilers is written in give old school vibes. When I see it, the jersey just screams 1970s.
It is a controversial direction for the team’s jersey to take. Fans have been clamouring for a reboot of the navy and copper jerseys we saw in the 2000s, but the organization has yet to bring these back. Instead, we get a completely unique jersey giving the Oilers their first wordmark style design, joining a growing list of teams choosing to use this style.
When will the Edmonton Oilers wear their new third jersey?
Currently, the Oilers are set to wear the new third jersey seven times during the 2025–26 season. Five games at home, and two on the road. It will make its debut against the Utah Mammoth on October 28. It will later be seen against the Seattle Kraken on December 4, the Winnipeg Jets on December 6, the Calgary Flames on December 23, and the Minnesota Wild on January 31. The two road games on this jersey’s schedule are the Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators on January 12 and 13.
