Edmonton Oilers prospect roundup: Bakersfield Condors are 7–3 in their last ten games

Two weeks into the new year, with the return of all World Junior players we get a more complete look at the pool this week. Have any of the prospects stuck to their new years resolutions? Possibly. As for their on ice play, the Edmonton Oilers pool has largely stuck to the same rate of production as they did last year.

There is so much to get into this week- let’s dive right in!

Welcome to the TOR Edmonton Oilers prospect update. Each week, we’ll take a dive into how the Oilers’ prospects have done in their respective leagues. We have defined a prospect as a skater who has played fewer than 65 NHL games, and is younger than 25 years of age.

Edmonton Oilers prospect updates

AHL

  • The Bakersfield Condors have impressed lately, going 7–3–0 in their past ten games.
  • The Condors split a pair of games with the San Jose Barracuda losing 5–2 on January 10, and then picking up a victory 5–4 the next day. They look to collect four points against the Colorado Eagles in their road trip to Blue Arena this week.
  • Matthew Savoie, who was recently named an AHL All Star last week, continues with a prospect best rate of 0.84PPG. Expect him, and his skating, senses, and high end compete to appear with the Oilers sometime in 2025.
  • Defenceman Robbie Attard had the best week of his season so far going a point per game in the Condors two games.
  • Roby Järventie remains injured. Maximus Wanner has not appeared in a game since December 14.

ECHL

  • Connor Ungar had another quality week with the Fort Wayne Komets, securing two wins. He only conceded two goals on a combined 58 shots, and secured a 17-save (birthday) shutout on the 12th. Talk about a good birthday gift.

NCAA

  • Paul Fischer had a notable two way performance in Notre Dame’s second game against the University of Michigan this past week. Serving as a top two defender he posted a goal and an assist in a 7–4 victory on Saturday night. This was his first two games back since the World Juniors.
  • Boston University secured against the University of Vermont this past week. Oilers prospects Matt Componi (two assists in the first game), and Shane Lachance (two assists combined) drove some of that offence.

OHL

  • Nathaniel Day has appeared in each of the Firebirds last 13 games, including three this past week against Brantford, Guelph, and Windsor.
  • London Knights teammates William Nicholl (one assist), and Sam O’Reilly (one goal) posted a point each in two games this past week.
  • Barrie Colts teammates Beau Akey (one assist), and Dalyn Wakely (one goal, one assist) appeared in a trio of games against Owen Sound, Peterborough, and Kitchener this past week.
  • Appearing with his new club the Peterborough Petes, forward prospect Brady Stonehouse served as a stable top-nine forward onroute to appearing on the scoresheet twice in his first three games.

Russia

  • Maxim Beryozkin continues to log meaningful minutes for Yaroslavl Lokomitiv, averaging 15:07 and 16:55 TOI in the two games this past week. He also found the scoresheet once with an assist in their first game against Spartak Moskva on the 10th.
