The Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Vancouver Canucks in a high-stakes, late-season game. Edmonton beating Vancouver would have given them a prime opportunity to vie for first overall in the Pacific being one point back with a game in hand. However, the Oilers came up short and instead are now five points back. The Canucks would have to lose their final two games with the Oilers winning all three for Edmonton to leap past Vancouver.
