Edmonton Oilers

Watch Sam Carrick and Adam Henrique’s first goals with the Edmonton Oilers

When the Edmonton Oilers traded for forwards Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick from the Anaheim Ducks, few would have expected that Carrick would beat Henrique to scoring their first goals in orange and blue. Carrick posted eight goals in 61 games with the Ducks this year while Henrique had a much stronger 18 goals in 60 appearances.

However, Carrick got the bragging rights over his teammate as he scored for Edmonton on March 16 while Henrique got his first two games later against the Canadiens on March 19.

Here are both of the goals from the newest Oilers in all their glory.

Carrick cleans up

In a disjointed play with Corey Perry even losing his stick and making a pass with a kick, Carrick was in all the right spots. First fighting along the boards for possession and dumping it towards Perry, Carrick then circled behind the net to put him in the net-front spot.

One weak rebound off a Mattias Janmark shot later and Carrick’s first goal as an Oiler was as certain as can be.

Henrique in the right spot

Death, taxes, net-front goals for Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have been one of the best teams at scoring goals from in close this season. Much like Carrick, Henrique also got the memo and planted himself in front of Sam Montembeault to pick up a pass on his backhand and tap it into the open net.

More to come for the Oilers

It’s always nice when new players—especially those acquired as trade deadline adds—immediately contribute to their new teams. For the Oilers, having both Carrick and Henrique get their first goals with Edmonton recorded early on in their Oilers tenure can only be a good thing.
