After an incredible week in which the Edmonton Oilers played (and won) three games, Connor McDavid added his contributions by scoring four goals and tallying four assists. His performance has earned him the accolade of being named the NHL’s second star of the week.

McDavid finds himself sandwiched between the week’s first star, Nikita Kucherov (four goals and nine points) and the third star, Matthew Tkachuk (four goals and eight points in four games).
In typical fashion, McDavid, whose Oilers are heading into the All-Star break and bye week on a 16-game winning streak, does not want to take much credit for the team’s success.
And, as much as this is a good leader giving the team a well-deserved bump, he is not wrong. The Oilers have been finding success as everyone on the ice contributes and finds their offence, finds their role, and executes it perfectly.
Edmonton seeing excellence from McDavid
But McDavid’s second star of the week status is more than deserved after he played a major role in helping keep Edmonton’s win streak alive.
McDavid factored in on each of the final seven goals that Edmonton scored last week. This includes a high IQ play to pick up his own bounce off the end boards and bank it off of Kevin Lankinen‘s back from behind the goal line to make it 3–0 Edmonton in Saturday’s win over the Nashville Predators.
Now even though there is a nine-day break between games, we will at least get to see McDavid and Leon Draisaitl compete in the NHL’s All-Star Weekend!
