The Edmonton Oilers had a chance to make Canadian history if they were to beat the Calgary Flames in the Battle of Alberta. If they win and extend their point streak to 13 games, they’d hold the longest win streak by any Canadian franchise. Spoiler alert: Edmonton got the job done.

Game events
- The Oilers were clean in the giveaway front with only five counted.
- Edmonton managed to get more blocks than Calgary, which was surprising given Calgary’s propensity to, well, block shots.

- Neither Connor McDavid nor Leon Draisaitl picked up a point as an Edmonton rarity occurred.
- Ryan McLeod is closing in on 10 goals this season as he picked up his ninth. Both he and Warren Foegele sit at nine goals, which would make them the seventh and eighth Oilers to reach that mark once they do.
All situations Corsi
- Edmonton had a much stronger game than Calgary from start to finish in terms of shot attempts.
- The Oilers were never outshot at any point in the game.
- Edmonton’s dominant shot efficiency showed up again as they funnelled more shots to the net front.
- Calgary’s shots weren’t bad either but despite getting shots off in close, their angles were wider and didn’t have the same threat levels as Edmonton’s.
5v5 Corsi
- At 5v5, the game was even more controlled by the Oilers as the shot attempt gap was larger.
- Edmonton prevented the Flames from getting much of anything in the majority of the first period and caused Calgary to chase the rest of the game.
- The shot location discrepancy between the two teams was more significant at 5v5, as Edmonton was dominant with their shots while the Flames had a much lower number of shots in the high-danger areas.
