The Edmonton Oilers set franchise record with their tenth straight victory

The Edmonton Oilers are still going streaking!

With their second straight overtime comeback win, Evan Bouchard’s bomb from the point set a franchise record for consecutive wins in a row at ten.

The Oilers season sure has turned around.

A season of streaks

In franchise history, the Oilers had recorded nine straight wins on two separate occasions. The first was in 2001 and the second was just under a year ago at the tail end of the 2022–2023 NHL season. Never before had that reached double digits until today.

The Oilers had previously won eight games earlier this year, but couldn’t tie the franchise record. Clearly that was something the team wasn’t happy about and wanted to tie up before the end of the season.

With ten straight wins, the Oilers now sit at 23–15–1 on the season and just one point behind the Los Angeles Kings for third in the Pacific Division. That is quite the turnaround after the team was almost at the bottom of the Western Conference at the start of the season.

The Oilers have been streaky all season long, but this string of ten in a row only helps boost their playoff chances. It’s hard to think that ten games ago the Oilers were 13–15–1 and were potentially undergoing some major changes. Now they are looking like serious threats to the better teams in the West.

There is a lot of time left, and some things to clear up like the power play, but the question now becomes just how long can they extend this record-breaking streak.
