The Edmonton Oilers managed to pick up their fourth straight win. Now with a 9–12–1 record, their 19 points sees them just a few wins out of the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. It’s been a remarkable turnaround for the Oilers, but they’re chipping away at and digging themselves out the hole they created.
Heading into Winnipeg to face the Jets, the Oilers had a three-game win streak with their latest win coming against the Cup champions in the Vegas Golden Knights. In that game, Edmonton gave up two goals in the third to allow the Golden Knights to get back into the game. This time around, they needed third period goals to break past Connor Hellebuyck.
Despite trailing for most of the game, the Oilers scored three straight goals in with less than seven minutes in regulation to turn the game completely around. From being unable to solve Hellebuyck to getting a game-tying goal off of a Hellebuyck gaffe, the Oilers took full advantage and secured the win.
