When bad things come, sometimes they come in waves. For the Edmonton Oilers, seeing three-goal leads evaporate is currently drowning them. After just losing to the New York Rangers despite holding a 4–1 lead, the Oilers went and did the same thing again to the Colorado Avalanche.
Leading 3–0 almost midway into the game, the Avalanche responded and the two teams battled back and forth. Ultimately, the game went to overtime after each team scored five goals apiece.
With time winding down in the extra frame, the Avalanche completed the comeback as they handed Edmonton their third consecutive loss in extra time.
