Oilers Game Recaps

Oilers Visual Recap 52: Edmonton suffers setback in shootout loss against Flyers

The Edmonton Oilers were looking to gain ground in the Pacific Division with a chance to leapfrog the Los Angeles Kings for third place. They had a good chance to pick up points against the struggling Philadelphia Flyers.

However, the goal scoring was kept to a minimum as both teams were tied at one apiece after a full 65 minutes of play. The two teams were actually quite closely matched throughout the game as both teams got shots off in high-danger areas and the final shot clock read 36–35 in favour of the Flyers. However, both Stuart Skinner and Carter Hart were sharp and kept their teams in the game.

In the shootout, the Flyers got the better of the Oilers, scoring twice on Skinner while Hart was only beaten once. The Oilers still ultimately captured a point, and that was still enough for them to finish the night third overall in the Pacific.
