For the second game in a row, Jack Campbell was less than stellar for the Edmonton Oilers. After allowing four goals on 11 shots, the Calgary Flames chased the goaltender as Stuart Skinner got into his first game action of 2022–23 far sooner than most expected.
Skinner was fantastic all game and kept his cool in an unideal situation, and more importantly kept the Oilers in the game, allowing them to mount a comeback of sorts. However, on the other side of the ice was Daniel Vladar–the Flames’ backup goaltender–and the Battle of the Backups was as good as ever.
The Oilers drew close, but came up short, losing for the first time this season to a final score of 4–3 for Calgary.
