Oilers News: Aidan Park invited to World Junior Summer Showcase

Oil Country was the recipient of some surprising and encouraging news as Aidan Park was invited to represent team USA at the World Junior Summer Showcase. The annual tournament will run from July 25th to August 2nd this year. Featuring teams from Canada, USA, Sweden, and Finland, the tournament offers a close up look at some of the top prospects from recent and upcoming drafts.

While Park was a seventh-round pick, earning an invitation to this event is a prestigious recognition. Many of the world’s best prospects will be on hand, and Park joining a stacked USA team is a testament to his talents. While Park will likely be relegated to a smaller role, the chance to prove himself so soon after being drafted is encouraging.

The forward is coming off a 66-point season with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL. He will join the Calgary Hitmen full-time next season, after appearing for three playoff games last season. Expect his point production to increase as he goes into next season.

Park will then head to the University of Michigan the following year if all goes according to plan. As a seventh-round pick, he’s a bit more of a project, but the underlying numbers and attitude are there. The centre/winger has all the right skills to be an NHLer in a few years. Being named to this squad is a massive accomplishment for the young forward.

For NHL fans the tournament offers a great opportunity to see their team’s best prospects, as well as some of the top talents of the 2026 draft. For a contending Oilers team the tournament will offer some unexpected content, as Park will look to start outperforming his draft slot.
