Not to be lost in the shuffle of silly season as free agent frenzy kicks off is the Edmonton Oilers prospect development camp! Beginning on Monday, June 30, this camp features the best prospects that the team has in their pipeline, as well as a few of their recent free agent signings and draft picks.
In all, 27 players have been invited to participate in this camp. Yesterday featured the basics, medical, and fitness testing. While Tuesday and Wednesday moves things onto the ice with activities and team building exercises. That leads into the focal event, a three-on-three tournament that fans are invited to come watch taking place at the Downtown Community Arena beginning at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 3.

Most of the top prospects on the team, including O’Reilly, Savoie, and Akey, are making appearances at this camp. Additionally, the entire 2025 draft class will be here, including Park, who just happened to be around the draft and despite being the second-to-last pick, was able to be in the stadium when he was selected.
There are only two players at this camp that are not members of the Oilers organization, Pitlick and Banini. However, Pitlick recently signed a contract with the Bakersfield Condors so he will be a player the Oilers front office will be keeping a close eye on.

Thoughts on Nicholl as a prospect? Great 5v5 production in a more depth role, and from what I saw good skating and hockey iq. I’m definitely not a scout but to me he could maybe be a steal if he keeps progressing?
Full disclosure, I’m not a scout either. But I am extremely excited about Nicholl. As a seventh round draft pick to go and take on a big role on a team like the London Knights in his draft+1 season is a great sign. And he seems to have a very transferable playstyle as an energy, spark plug player. Seems to be what the front office is looking for in prospects right now.
