Edmonton Oilers star Leon Draisaitl scores 50th goal of the season

Leon Draisaitl has been on another level in the 2024–25 season. He might very well be the best player in the world over the past six months. After missing a few games due to injury, he has fallen to third in the league in points with 102 in 68 completed games. And in tonight’s game against the Calgary Flames, he has hit a huge milestone for the season. For the fourth time in his career, Draisaitl has scored 50 goals.

Best known for his signature one-timer from the low (or even below) the right circle, Draisaitl has exploded in 2024–25 to be on pace for the best goal scoring season of his career. He has led the league for most of it. Usually by a significant margin. And continues to do so to this day with an 11 goal lead over second place William Nylander.

His pace is beginning to fall short of the 60-goal plateau, which he has yet to reach in his illustrious career, but all it will take is a couple of hot games for Draisaitl to get back on track for 60. If he does so, it will become just the 44th time in NHL history a player has scored 60 in a single season and just the seventh instance of it happening since 2000. Though that would require him to play at a goal per game pace through the final few weeks of the season.

All eyes are on the German superstar as he chases greatness this season!
