The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with one of their RFAs, signing Colton Dach to a two-year contract with a $1.2M AAV. The St. Albert, AB product is now signed through the 2027-28 season, after which he’ll still be an RFA with team control.
Who is Colton Dach?
Dach was acquired by the Oilers via trade with the Chicago Blackhawks at last year’s trade deadline. A physical winger listed at 6’4” and 218 lbs, Dach fit in marvelously in the Oilers’ bottom six. Just 23 years old, Dach put up two goals and four points in eight games with the Oilers at the end of last season.
A solid deal
We’ve seen quite a few eye-popping contracts with the rising cap, both in terms of contract length and contract value. This deal is extremely reasonable. It’s not too long for a player who projects as a bottom-six winger, and the AAV isn’t inflated.
The Oilers have had an incredible offseason thus far, and the new contract for Dach is just another solid deal signed by the team.
With Dach signed, the Oilers have dealt with all their RFAs, and project to enter the 2026-27 season with around $5.5M in cap space.
