Oilers Highlight: Leon Draisaitl scores overtime winner against Islanders for his 100th point

Time to celebrate, Oil Country, Leon Draisaitl has hit triple digits! The Edmonton Oilers star forward has recorded his 100th point of the season with his overtime goal against the New York Islanders. He continues to prove he is one of the most dominant players in the league, and could very well be the best player in the league this season.

Another century mark for Draisaitl

Despite his early reputation being more of the finisher for Connor McDavid’s playmaking, Draisaitl has always been regarded as one of the best and most precise passers in the league, dating back to those old passing competitions in the All-Star Skills Competition. This well-rounded approach gives him a unique way to accumulate points as he is regularly past a 40-goal, 100-point pace.

This season marks the sixth time that Draisaitl has reached 100 points in a single campaign. He has now become just the 17th player in NHL history to record six or more 100-point seasons.

Draisaitl’s constant and consistent excellence this season has kept an often struggling Oilers team in the mix as he puts the team on his back despite down years for almost the entire rest of the lineup, including some missed games from McDavid.

With his anticipated strong showing at the NHL Awards this summer, Draisaitl continues to cement his place amongst the all-time greats with his consistently dominant performances and offensive production.
