With the playoffs being front of mind with nothing left to play for in the regular season, the Edmonton Oilers opted to rest their stars. Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Mattias Ekholm, Evan Bouchard, and Evander Kane were all scratched in the season finale.
As such, the game versus the Colorado Avalanche was less a potential playoff preview and more a scheduled loss for Edmonton.
