The Edmonton Oilers have now won five games in a row. They’re firmly in second place in the Pacific Division now as they’re seven points back of the Vancouver Canucks but five points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights. Edmonton’s latest victory came in a battle against the Boston Bruins where Leon Draisaitl’s late-game heroics led them into the win column.

Game events
- The game was a low-scoring affair with it being a 2–1 final score. In terms of shots, it was also on the lower end with both teams posting 26 apiece.
- There were more hits in the game than there were shots, and this was true for each team individually.

- No goals were scored in the first two periods, but an early third period goal by the Bruins had the Oilers pressing for the remainder of the game.
- The final statline had the same players doing the same things for Edmonton, with Draisaitl scoring, Connor McDavid getting the primary assists, and Evan Bouchard picking up the secondaries.

- You can see the Bruins completely withdrew from the offensive zone after they scored as they barely had any shot attempts after their goal.
- Meanwhile, they let the league’s most structured offence remain in the offensive zone as the Oilers pressed and tied it up.
- Edmonton actually didn’t get into the slot as much as they usually do, but they were able to score with their net empty from in close off of a faceoff win.
- Boston wasn’t able to score anything high-danger at all either, as their limited attempts in the slot were all stopped by Stuart Skinner.
5v5 Corsi
- No goals for Edmonton at 5v5, but they had more sustained pressure throughout the game.
- The Bruins had a strong second period push, but it was fleeting as they coasted, allowing the Oilers to come back with stronger momentum.
- On the season, the Oilers have the most structured 5v5 offence. In this game, not so much. With barely anything getting close to the net, the Oilers not being able to score at 5v5 is unsurprising.
- This type of shot chart is more of a one-off than it is a regular occurrence for the Oilers. For now, they’ll reset with the win streak extended.
