Ever since the Edmonton Oilers sent Philip Broberg to the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors, he has been gaining considerable value and interest around the league.
The 2019 eighth overall pick has 19 points in 29 games, but has been on a tear recently with 10 points in his past 10 games. Broberg has missed the last five games with injury, originally sustained in the Condors’ game against the San Jose Barracuda on February 10th.
It was announced that the bruise would keep him out of the lineup for the Condors’ next two games, but Broberg has missed an additional three and the bruise is bad enough that he has returned to Edmonton to undergo treatment.
Broberg was believed to be a good trade chip for the Oilers at this year’s trade deadline, but it appears that the organization has renewed belief in the young blueliner, and will likely keep him instead. Broberg’s injury could preclude him from being traded, but he is expected to be back just in time for the deadline.
If the right offer comes along, the Oilers would have to listen, even if it includes one of their best young prospects.
This guy is constantly hurt. Please trade him.
