Continuing to climb up the ranks in the NHL’s history books, the Oilers broke free from a four-way tie for the fourth-longest streak to now a three-way tie for the third-longest. By taking down the Chicago Blackhawks with a 3–0 shutout win, the Oilers are now tied with the 1981–82 New York Islanders and the 2012–13 Pittsburgh Penguins with 15 wins in a row.

Game events
- The Oilers were by and large the better team on many different accounts, with goals, shots, and faceoffs decidedly going their way.
- The Blackhawks were more physical, however, as they put up 28 hits.

- Three Oilers goals, three points for Connor McDavid, and three points for Leon Draisaitl. Interesting outcome after Kris Knoblauch reunited them.
All situations Corsi
- The Oilers controlled most of the game with a steady pace of offence.
- There were no prolonged stretches of offence for either team though, with the biggest push being the Blackhawks closing out the first period.
- The Oilers were effective with slot shots and getting shots in close. Strangely, their shot totals from further away were higher than usual, deviating from their high-danger shots philosophy a bit.
- On defence, Edmonton didn’t give up too many chances against that were high-danger. A few here and there, but overall the team kept the Blackhawks away from the slot and Calvin Pickard stopped every shot he faced.
5v5 Corsi
- At 5v5, the Oilers put up 57 total shot attempts in the game. Given the low number of penalties, the total is slightly less impressive, but still, nearly one 5v5 Corsi per minute is nothing to scoff at.
- The 5v5 shot locations were well in favour of the Oilers as they dominated the share of high-danger chances.
