The Edmonton Oilers got their 2023–24 preseason underway with a game against the Winnipeg Jets. Some big-name Oilers were absent, mainly Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Mattias Ekholm, and Stuart Skinner, so it was clearly a far cry from their optimal lineup. After all, it is the preseason.
That said, it was still a decent test of the Oilers’ systems and those who played seemed to continue where the team left off last season. Ultimately, it was a goaltending battle between Olivier Rodrigue and Collin Delia, and the game needed a shootout to solve a 1–1 deadlock.
Unfortunately, the Oilers skated away with a loss but again, it was all but a preseason game to warm up the legs for the regular season.
With it being preseason there are some issues to work out with the data, so these are the charts available for your perusal!
