The Edmonton Oilers were tasked with facing the best team in the league in what would be a big litmus test for the team. Beating the Boston Bruins who were on a 10-game win streak was not going to be an easy task. However, the Oilers had every intention of facing the challenge head on.
Things didn’t go right for the Oilers in the first period as the the first shot of the game for Boston went in, and the final shot of the period also went in with less than one second remaining. Erasing a two-goal deficit against the Bruins is a tough task for any team in the NHL, but the Oilers weren’t going down easily.
Stuart Skinner wouldn’t allow another goal and Edmonton would respond to not just tie the game up, but also get the go-ahead go late in the game. Beat Boston? Check.
