The Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Montreal Canadiens in another weekend matinee showdown—their second in as many days. Stuart Skinner started in goal for the Oilers and Klim Kostin did not play due to an injury.
Entering this game, the Oilers were riding an 11-game point streak; they’re the hottest team in the NHL right now and pushing hard for first place in the Pacific Division.
Unfortunately, this one just didn’t go the Oilers’ way. The Canadiens skated away with a 6–2 victory. Just one of those days. It happens. Playing a road back-to-back with both coming as matinees is a rare schedule quirk and the Oilers can’t be too upset with the overall outcome.
Charts from the game are below.
