The Edmonton Oilers looked to get back into the win column on the second half of the back-to-back in a showdown with the Nashville Predators. Jack Campbell started for the Oilers, while Juuse Saros started for the Predators.
Despite the Predators opening the scoring just one minute into the game, this game wasn’t a close one. The Oilers were the better team all night long and truly exerted their dominance over the Predators. After Cody Glass’ goal 1:15 into the first, the Oilers responded with three consecutive tallies from Zach Hyman twice, and Leon Draisaitl. It was Draisaitl’s 20th goal of the season
Ryan Johansen cut the lead to one goal early in the second, but the Oilers replied with another Draisaitl goal. Dante Fabbro got another one on the board for the Predators, but that’s as close as they would come. Connor McDavid put home his 26th goal on the power play, followed by Hyman’s completing his hat-trick in the third period.
The Oilers won the high-danger chance battle 11–7 and owned 58% of the expected goals at 5v5. It was a bounce back performance after a lacklustre effort one night prior against the Minnesota Wild. The Oilers are back in action on Thursday night where they’ll host the St. Louis Blues.
