The Edmonton Oilers kicked off a three-game road trip against the NHL-leading New Jersey Devils. The Oilers have been a flip-flopping team as of late, unable to win back-to-back games since November 1.
The game was tied after one period, with Leon Draisaitl responding to Jesper Bratt’s opening marker just two minutes into the game. Unfortunately, the Devils scored twice in the second period to regain the lead, and never looked back. It wasn’t a particularly strong effort from the Oilers. They were outplayed at 5v5 for the majority of the game and didn’t look the part of a contender.
They’ll have a chance to bounce back on Wednesday night with a contest against the New York Islanders.
