Looking back at every 100th point milestone for Leon Draisaitl on his way to 1,000

Leon Draisaitl has hit the 1000-point mark. What a journey it’s been for our German. From being drafted third overall in 2014 to his first 50-goal season to a Hart Trophy and now, he joins some of the most prestigious names in history.

In honour of the greatness Draisaitl has brought to the Edmonton Oilers, letโ€™s go over his past point milestones from 100 to 1000.

Career point 100: January 18, 2017 versus Florida

Just like McDavid, Leon Draisaitl got his 100th career point against the Florida Panthers on January 18, 2017. While McDavid did it earlier in the game, Draisaitl got his in overtime.

It was a fun game which saw the Oilers come back down 3โ€“2 and win 4โ€“3. The goal Draisaitl assisted on was the patented McDrai two-on-one, one-timer. Super poetic.

Career point 200: March 20, 2018 versus Carolina

Draisaitl collected his 200th point, assisting on a Drake Caggiula goal early in the first period. This goal came right after Sebastian Aho scored to make it 1โ€“0. The Oilers opened the floodgates immediately and piled on another two goals on Scott Darling in a five minute span.

After another Aho goal, Draisaitl went off and had three points in the second, scoring once and assisting on a Jesse Puljujarvi and a Yohann Auvitu goal. Dominant night for him.

Career point 300: March 21, 2019 versus Columbus

Next up we have Draisaitlโ€™s 300th career point. This came at expense of the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team historically that has given Edmonton a bit of trouble.

David Savard would score the game’s first goal, but Kyle Brodziak from Joe Gambardealla and Josh Currie (wow was that roster bad) tied it up. Draisaitl went nuclear in the third period where he had a point on all three Oilers’ goals. His 300th point came on an assist of a McDavid goal to make it 3โ€“1. Edmonton would win the game 4โ€“1.

Career point 400: February 11, 2020 versus Chicago

This was the first game that season where the Oilers played a two and a half week stretch without McDavid. The only scoring line they basically had was that deadly RNH-Draisaitl-Kailer Yamamoto line.

The Oilers beat the Hawks by a score of 5โ€“3 and Draisaitl factored on four of them. Riley Sheahan would open the scoring for the team while Brandon Saad and Jonathan Toews would make it a 2โ€“1 game.

After a power play goal by Yamamoto assisted from Draisaitl, Draisaitl would get career point 400 off another Yamamoto goal in the second period. Draisaitl would later add another assist and an empty-netter.

Career point 500: May 8, 2021 versus Vancouver

This game was more well-known for another major milestone for an Oiler, which Draisaitl also factored into. After Edmonton went up 2โ€“0 off a McDavid and Puljujarvi goal, the Vancouver Canucks responded with two quick ones from Travis Boyd and J.T Miller.

Draisaitl would respond right away on the power play, picking up point 500…but what overshadows this was McDavid feeding him on the power play late in the second period for McDavid’s 100th point that season in just 53 games. That COVID-19 year was just magical from 97, and it’s only fitting Draisaitl scored to get both milestones for him and McDavid.

Career point 600: January 14, 2023 versus Vegas

Draisaitlโ€™s 600th came on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights. The Oilers started on fire scoring 45 seconds in thanks to a Mattias Janmark goal and then Draisaitl would collect his 600th just a minute later to make the game 2โ€“0.

After Keegan Kolesar gets one late at the end of the first, Draisaitl and Klim Kostin would score in the second to solidify the victory for the Oilers.

Career point 700: February 21, 2023 versus Philadelphia

On the same night McDavid hit 800 career points, Draisaitl reached the 700 point mark against the Philadelphia Flyers. Unlike most games here, this was a bit of a snoozefest. They were disengaged and sloppy in the first two periods as they were down by one and only had ten shots against the bad Flyers team.

A goal by Draisaitl on a four-minute power play tied the game and got the duo their milestones. The Oilers ended up winning the game with a solid 4โ€“2 outing.

Career point 800: January 27, 2024 versus Nashville

Surprisingly, this is the first time the “Mayor of Nashville” collected a huge milestone against the Nashville Predators despite the amount of hat tricks and success he’s had against them.

This game saw the Oilers win their 16th straight that season and was also Corey Perry’s debut. Draisaitl scored a goal on the power play from McDavid in the second period to get to the 800 mark and the Oilers won the game by a score of 4โ€“1.

Career point 900: December 19, 2024 versus Boston

Leon Draisaitl had a three-point night in the Oilers 3โ€“2 overtime victory against the Boston Bruins. He collected point 900 off a Zach Hyman goal in the first period. He would later grab an assist off a McDavid goal late in the third and would grab an assist off an overtime winner from Mattias Ekholm.

The Oilers records in these games were undefeated. A record of 9โ€“0โ€“0. Just like how it was with McDavid.
