Each week we provide a schedule breakdown showing which teams to stream players from, who is hot and who is cold, some sleeper picks with low owned percentages to keep an eye on, and some Edmonton Oilers fantasy hockey updates.

Games played during week 17 decrease to 50 by comparison to the 55 we saw played during week 16. Games played during off-nights remains high at 23. You won’t have to focus on start/sit decisions on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with fewer teams in action than our season average.

Filip Forsberg- 58.50 FPTS
Back-to-back appearances as the top left winger of the week is Filip Forsberg who scored 3G with 4A, 1 +4 rating, 15SOG, 4HIT, and had 3BLK. Over the course of Nashville’s five-game win streak, that ended Saturday night against Anaheim, Forsberg had four multi-point games. He is one of the leagues hottest players with a 10-game point streak ongoing.
Centre
Jack Eichel – 64.70 FPTS
Eichel made a big splash in week 16 with 4G, 2A, a +6 rating, on 14 SOG. The Vegas Golden Knights star now has a six-game point streak. Despite the recent struggles from the Golden Knights, losers of seven of their last 10 games, Eichel is playing as well has he has on the season earning over 24:00 TOI in two of his last four.
Right wing
David Pastrnak – 66.20 FPTS
Pastrnak lands at the top spot in back-to-back weeks with 3G, 5A, a +5 rating, and 18SOG. The Boston Bruins have snapped out of a rough patch during where they had lost seven of their last eight games. Pastrnak is a major reason why the Bruins have been able to salvage a season that looked destined for failure. The superstar winger has now scored 11G in his last 11GP.
Defence
Adam Fox – 45.0 FPTS
During week 16, Fox accumulated 1G, 3A, a +5 rating, 11SOG, and 6BLK. It’s important to note that the Rangers how now scored 19G over their last 4GP. This kind of offence won’t be as easy to come by in week 17 where the Rangers play Carolina, Boston, and Vegas.
Goalie
Cam Talbot – 42.0 FPTS
Talbot is outplaying Alex Lyon in recent weeks and has now won seven of his last eight games. Talbot and Lyon have been spent most of the 2024-25 season battling for the top goaltender role in Detroit. We might now be seeing one goaltender emerge off the strength on the heels of back-to-back wins, including a 2–0 shut out against Tampa Bay.
Streamers of the week
It’s basically expected that the league’s top players will be the ones you want on your roster week in, and week out. But those players aren’t likely to be available for you to pick up. Here are some players who are hot with low ownership percentages that you should consider picking up for the week.
Jonathan Huberdeau (C,LW) – Calgary Flames – 42% Rostered
The Calgary Flames play four games during week 17, including games against Anaheim, Detroit, and Seattle who all play high scoring games with regularity. Huberdeau has 1G, 3A, a +4 rating, 8SOG, and 3HIT over his last 3GP. Look for him to score his 20th goal of the season during week 17 action.
Jaden Schwartz (C,LW) – Seattle Kraken – 14% Rostered
The Kraken also play four games this week and see three weak opponents in Anaheim, San Jose, and Calgary. Schwartz had a hat trick during week 15 and appears on the Kraken’s PP1 and L1 groups. This could be a high scoring week for the Kraken and its likely that Schwartz provides meaningful contributions to you Fantasy roster.
Aaron Ekblad (D) – Florida Panthers –55% Rostered
Ekblad missed eight of the Panthers last nine games due to injury. We’re seeing him available in more leagues. Now is a good time to add the veteran defender who has 1G, 1A, 3SOG, 5HIT, and 1BLK since returning. Consider him in league rewarding both HIT and BLK stat categories.
Jake Allen (G) – New Jersey Devils 31% Rostered
With Jacob Markstrom set to miss four to six weeks due to a knee injury, Allen is going to be the Devils primary goaltender. He gets an easy week 17 scheduled facing the Philadelphia Flyers twice and the Buffalo Sabres once. Look for Allen to provide Fantasy Managers with one to three wins on the week.
Fantasy hockey players to consider dropping
Not everyone is always rosterable. Sometimes, it makes sense to let someone go and pick up one of the players above to get you more points this week. Here’s a recommendation of who has gone ice cold lately that it may be time to drop.
Shayne Gostisbehere (D) – Carolina Hurricanes – 64% Rostered
Since returning from an eight game absence, Gostibehere has recorded only 1A over 7GP. His ice time has dropped as low as 13:32 over that period. He is now being listed on the Hurricanes third pairing along side Sean Walker. His role as the Hurricanes PP1 member is the only thing that has managers clinging to hope for him to produce in a Fantasy relevant way.
