First appearance in the Stanley Cup Final since 2006? You got it. The Edmonton Oilers beat the Dallas Stars in six games and will face the Florida Panthers for the Stanley Cup.
The Oilers got ahead early with what could have been one of the greatest Oilers playoff goals of recent memory from Connor McDavid and then doubled their lead with a goal from leading playoff goal scorer Zach Hyman. Only ten shots were put up by Edmonton over the whole game, but they got their two goals and the game-winner from Hyman.
The Stars played desperation hockey all game long and Stuart Skinner was up to the task with one of his best playoff performances yet, turning away 34 of 35 shots he faced. The Stars didn’t relent at all but the Oilers hung on to win.
