The Edmonton Oilers were looking to build on their Game 1 victory and try to steal both away games to open the Western Conference Final. The Dallas Stars had other plans however as they instead tied the series up.
Edmonton was held to just one goal—the last time they scored just once, they won in the Game 4 shutout over the Kings. This time around, it wasn’t enough as Dallas got more pucks past the goal line. The Oilers’ only goal came from their depth as Connor Brown answered back to tie the game, but the usual scoring suspects were all held pointless including Leon Draisaitl—whose 13-game point streak to open the playoffs came to an end.
Regardless of who scored or didn’t score, the bigger picture matters more. Edmonton stole home-ice advantage and this series is looking like it’s going to be a good one.
