All situations Corsi
- The two teams basically traded shot attempts all game long. While shot attempts were even, the goals clearly were not as the Oilers opened and ended the game with sets of two goals.
- Pickard absolutely earned his shutout—the Oilers’ defence was loose and gave up a plethora of high-danger chances.
- Meanwhile, Edmonton had chances in front of the net but didn’t convert on any of them either. All of their goals came from further out.
5v5 Corsi
- This game had its fair share of penalties, but no power play goals as most penalties were abbreviated or offsetting.
- That said, Edmonton’s fourth goal came just after their power play expired. Sidney Crosby was in the penalty box and as he re-entered the play, the Nurse shot the puck off for a goal before Crosby could even impact the outcome.
- At 5v5, the Penguins were the better team on offence. If it wasn’t for Pickard’s play, this game could have easily gone awry for Edmonton, but he was poised and played his game to perfection.
- On the other end of the ice, Tristan Jarry probably wishes he could have saved some of the Oilers’ goals.
