Edmonton Oilers sign Adam Erne to a PTO

The Edmonton Oilers have signed veteran forward Adam Erne to a professional try-out.

The 28-year-old left-winger spent last season with the Detroit Red Wings, scoring 18 points in 61 games. Erne offers the Oilers yet another option for their bottom-six alongside veterans Sam Gagner, Drake Caggiula, Lane Pederson, and Brandon Sutter.

Erne is a former second-round draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2013. He has since made a career as playing a gritty winger who isn’t afraid to go into the dirty areas of the ice. Although he was touted for his ability to produce offense in junior, he has not been able to put up super impressive boxcars over his seven years in the NHL.

His highest scoring season came in both 2018-19 and 2020-21 where he put up 20 points.
