Oilers Game Recaps

Oilers Visual Recap R1G2: Edmonton gets job done in third period to tie up series

The Edmonton Oilers looked to tie up the series after being unable to hold down their lead in Game 1. However, they almost suffered the same fate in Game 2. Despite going up two goals after the first period, the score was tied at two apiece after the second. In the second time in as many games, the Oilers had multigoal leads turn into tied situations.

However, the third period was a different story this time around. Early pressure led to an early third period goal, and the Oilers were able the stay ahead as the Kings chased to no avail. The Oilers defended well and prevented the Kings from taking too many high-danger shots throughout the game, and that was a big reason they won. Given that the Kings’ two goals came from in close, preventing those opportunities was the type of defence the Oilers needed to play.
