Oilers Game Recaps

Oilers Visual Recap 39: Edmonton falls to Seattle in ugly fashion

The Edmonton Oilers, who vowed to be better on home ice and reward their fans with more points at Rogers Centre, hosted the Seattle Kraken in their first game of the 2023 calendar year.

Unfortunately, the Oilers let this extremely winnable game slip through their hands. Up by two goals early in the second period off tallies from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Connor McDavid, the scored five unanswered to run away with the game. It was a very tough loss, one that had Oilers fans up in arms over the roster and its construction. Stuart Skinner was also pulled after allowing four goals on 20 shots.

However, to give credit where credit is due, the Kraken played a very solid game all night long. They owned the majority of scoring chances, high-danger chances, and expected goals, and did deserve the two points in this contest.

The Oilers will have a chance to bounce back on Thursday night as the New York Islanders come to town.

Charts from the game are below.
