Wow! I suppose it is time to review the 2025 Edmonton Oilers season, as 2025 comes to a close and 2026 approaches. 2025 had many ups and downs for the Oilers, and even through these moments, Edmonton was still able to make it back to the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive year, where they would unfortunately lose in six games to the Florida Panthers.
Throughout 2025, there were many memorable moments for the Oilers with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl combining for 220 regular season points and 66 playoff points. The two superstars combined for a grand total of 286 points in 2025, with McDavid having 147 points and Draisaitl ending up with 139 points. Now it is time to look at the top 10 goals that made up the Oilers’ 2025 calendar year.
Honourable mention: Connor McDavid versus Toronto Maple Leafs
Not quite making the top 10 and coming in as an honorable mention was a goal that Connor McDavid scored against the Toronto Maple Leafs just over two weeks ago, on December 13. McDavid was able to generate a huge boost of speed and left a couple of Leafs players in the dust for a gorgeous game-opening goal.
10. Connor McDavid versus Vegas Golden Knights
Starting off at number 10 is another drive-by/speedy goal from Connor McDavid. One week ago, on December 21, McDavid used his speed and dragged by two Vegas players before tucking the puck home past the Golden Knights’ netminder.
9. Connor McDavid versus Pittsburgh Penguins
Next up at number nine is yet another goal by the Oilers Captain, Connor McDavid. Just under two weeks ago, on December 16, McDavid turned on the jets before breaking in and tucking the puck past his former teammate, Stuart Skinner. What a great way for McDavid and the Oilers to say, “We will miss you.”
8. Evan Bouchard versus Los Angeles Kings
At the number eight spot is a goal by the Oilers defenceman, Evan Bouchard. In Game 4 of the Stanley Cup playoffs on April 27, Bouchard blasted a one-time shot home off the pass from Leon Draisaitl, with just about 30 seconds left to go in the game.
7. Corey Perry versus Florida Panthers
Coming in at number seven is a player who was able to perform very well for the Edmonton Oilers in the playoffs. Corey Perry managed to send Game 2 to overtime with a shot off the rebound that beat the Panthers’ netminder, with just under 20 seconds to go in the game.
6. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins versus Utah Mammoth
Next up at number six is a goal by the Edmonton Oilers’ longest tenured player, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Nuge received a pass and streaked down the ice for a breakaway, while being chased by two Utah players, before he would eventually bury the puck into the back of the net with a sweet backhand shot.
5. Leon Draisaitl versus Dallas Stars
Five alive, it is time for the top five. Leon Draisaitl earned this spot on the list, thanks to his power play goal on November 4. Off a pass from Jack Roslovic, Draisaitl found the back of the net from the goal line with his one-timed shot.
4. Leon Draisaitl versus Florida Panthers
Coming in at number four is another goal from Leon Draisaitl. On June 12, Corey Perry and Draisaitl were able to break into the Panther’s zone while being defended, where Vasily Podkolzin would make a pass across to Draisaitl. Draisaitl would eventually score a one-handed goal in overtime, to win the Edmonton Oilers the game and even the series.

3. Connor McDavid versus Los Angeles Kings
Next up at number three is some more playoff action. Connor McDavid would score a highlight-reel goal against the Los Angeles Kings on April 21. With less than two minutes left in Game 1, Leon Draisaitl gifted McDavid a pass, who was then able to play the puck off the boards past a few L.A. players. He would sneak the puck past the Kings’ netminder, to tie the game at five and send it to overtime.
2. Connor McDavid overtime winner at the 4 Nations Face-Off
Even though he was not wearing the orange and blue, this definitely deserves to come in at the number two spot. Connor McDavid and some of the best NHL players had the opportunity to play in a mini four-nations tournament that saw Canada, Sweden, USA, and Finland hit the ice.
In the championship game against the USA on February 20, Mitch Marner would find McDavid wide open and alone in front of the opposing net. McDavid would finish the game in overtime thanks to a top-shelf beauty against Connor Hellebuyck.
1. Leon Draisaitl’s 1000th NHL point on a Zach Hyman goal
The goal/play of 2025 at the number one spot happened to come off the sticks of Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman. This is considered more of an assist, but on December 16, Hyman would score the game’s opening goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins and his former teammate, Stuart Skinner. Leon Draisaitl would get a secondary assist on the play, which would end up counting as his 1000th career point in the NHL. Because he is now the fifth player in Edmonton Oilers history and the first German player to reach this milestone, this has the be at the top of the list when you consider how special and rare this is.
