Edmonton Oilers lose Noah Philp on waivers to Carolina Hurricanes

The Edmonton Oilers have lost 27-year-old rookie centre Noah Philp to the Carolina Hurricanes on waivers.

Philp was placed on waivers yesterday.

Down a man

Philp appeared in 15 games for the Oilers this season, and put up two goals and three points along with a minus-seven rating. According to public analytics models, Philp has just been okay in the NHL over this two-season 30-game career, so although this does create a bit of a hit to the Oilers centre depth, it’s not a massive loss by any means.

Many fans are a bit up in arms over the Canmore, AB product being placed on waivers in the first place as there are other players on the roster who have done just as much, or less, than Philp has.

This opens up a spot for someone else to crack the Oilers lineup; let’s see who it ends up being.
