Oilers Game Recaps

Oilers Visual Recap: Edmonton drops preseason game in first visit to Vancouver

After an overtime win in a preseason Battle of Alberta, the Edmonton Oilers immediately went to face the Vancouver Canucks. Playing in the second game of a back-to-back, the Oilers still opted to dress a non-regular season squad. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have still only featured in one game so far in the preseason, but it’s all for good reason.

Instead, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Connor Brown, and Evander Kane were the forwards with the most ice time. However, they didn’t factor into either of the Oilers’ two goals. Instead, Adam Erne—a player there on a PTO—and Raphael Lavoie scored for Edmonton.

It wouldn’t be enough however as the Canucks potted five goals against Stuart Skinner. It wasn’t the best outing for Skinner, but preseason games are exactly that. If Jack Campbell and Stuart Skinner are vying for the starter’s net and are both getting reps, that’s not a bad problem come the regular season.

With it being preseason, there are some issues to work out with the data, so these are the charts available for your perusal!
