The Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights faced off in a big Pacific Division game. With Vegas being the top Pacific team, it wasn’t going to be an easy matchup. It’s always a bit of a litmus test for teams to face off against division leaders.
The game saw three different one-goal leads disappear as the team with the lead couldn’t hold it once. The first two times, the Vegas got up ahead but Edmonton scored back to tie the game up. On the Oilers’ first lead of the game come off a third period power play goal to make it 3–2. However, the Golden Knights returned the favour by tying it up as well. The game needed overtime to solve, and it didn’t take long.
One quick zone entry, one quick move to evade the Vegas players, one quick move in front of the net. A mere matter of seconds was all it took for Connor McDavid to win the game. The Oilers pick up the extra point in a wild one.
